This in-depth online course covers all corners of sound, voice, music, shamanic chant, and creative expression with an emphasis on a repertoire that responds to this inquiry:

This course is tailored to sound healers, musicians, singers, teachers, yoga practitioners, clinicians, health care providers, music therapists and spiritual seekers, and everyone, regardless of musical training, Participants will take home practical skills of deep listening, voice, and sound that can be integrated into your personal and professional life, including energy medicine, sound healing, chiropractic, psychotherapy, bodywork, yoga classes, performance, and education. You’ll grow as a practitioner while Injecting even more inspiration and knowledge into the already thriving fields of sound and music therapies, the devotional voice, and the shamanic journey.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understanding and applying the healing potential of the voice through deep listening and centering auditory stimulation practices.
  • Learning to implement the grounding energy of devotional sound to cultivate openness and vitality.
  • Experience the practice of vocal meditation, the Indian ragas and the poetics of medicine melodies from across the world and gain an original repertoire of chants.
  • Increase the potential of intuition and concentration by focusing on the search of the infinite sound (anahata naad) and the ancient and modern yogic wisdom of sound.
  • Becoming familiar with the subtleties of the shamanic chant, the drum and the journey beyond fear.
  • Learning techniques to open energetic fields and create sympathetic resonance by means of the voice and in order to help others (compassion).
  • Releasing tensions and vocal impediments through yoga of the voice exercises and classic voice development practices.
  • Experience singing as spiritual practice beyond personal conditioning.

Saturday, June 20th – 3:00-6:30pm
Sunday, June 21 – 3:00-6:30pm

TUITION: $450 early bird by 6/1; $500 after June 1st
Tuition fees include a folder with preliminary supporting materials (readings, practices, slides presentations, videos) that provide a theoretical context to the mostly experiential online sessions. These materials will be distributed upon completing the registration to the weekend.

Silvia Nakkach, MA, MMT, is a Grammy-nominated musician, and a pioneer and a driving force of innovation in field of the sound in transformation of consciousness, and music in shamanic practices. She is an award-winning composer, author, vocal artist, and former music psychotherapist. While on the faculty of CIIS, she created the prime Certificate on Sound and Voice in the Healing Arts hosted by an academic institution. She is the founding director of the international Vox Mundi School of Voice with centers across the US, Europe, Japan, Brazil, South Korea, and India, where she travels extensively each year with groups of students interested in training in the Yoga of the Voice. Presently, she is the Coordinator and Faculty of the Sound Healing Certificate at the Open Center in New York City. She has devoted 36 years to the study of North Indian classical music under the direction of the late Maestro Ali Akbar Khan and other great masters of the Dhrupad Raga Singing tradition.
