A training for yoga teachers, yoga therapists, psychotherapists and clinicians alike! Students welcome too! Transforming Trauma Through Yoga is a three day trauma informed yoga certification program recognized by Yoga Alliance. The training offers students the skills to understand how the experience of shock and trauma manifests in the body and mind. Students will learn how to use the sacred practice of yoga, along with the most recent research in somatic techniques, to transform the effects of trauma on the nervous system and body.
Backed by science, trauma informed yoga is the next wave in healthcare for anxiety, depression, PTSD, dissociative disorders and dysregulated nervous systems. Unresolved trauma wreaks havoc on the body causing physiological illness, somatic symptoms, and psycho-emotional dysregulation. Students will learn the framework for understanding trauma in the body as it relates to the nervous system, chakras, guna, koshas and polyvagal theory.
Upon completing training, yoga teachers will understand how yoga can transform traumatic imprints in the body and mind.. They will learn how to offer safe and effective trauma informed group yoga classes or one-on-one sessions. This training will prepare yoga teachers to teach in clinical settings such as mental health clinics and will teach Psychotherapists a new toolbox of somatic skills to use with their clients.
Upon completion you will be able to register 25 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) with Yoga Alliance.
